STUART CLAYTON SET TO TRAIN the future stars of scottish golf

Golfzon Leadbetter Head of Education, Stuart Clayton, has been selected as a 2021 Scottish Performance Programme Performance Coach. The newly reinvented Scottish Performance Program looks to drive momentum through increased support and mentorship for elite amateurs and aspiring tour professionals. The program aims to inspire and encourage the growth of the game throughout Scotland through increased opportunity and exposure for the country’s top talents.
Clayton will work with the Scottish golf performance team and Solheim Cup Captain, and LPGA professional Catriona Matthew in developing the Women and Girls division of the program. He will aid players through their performance training and provide support while competing at select major events.

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to pass on my experience and help coach the next generation to unlock their potential working with players and their coaching team it will be great to see what value I can add to each individual player,” says Clayton of his new role. “The players have all seen good improvement over the past few years and it is exciting to work with such an ambitious group of players to see if they can reach their goals and dreams.”

In his role as a Master Instructor and Head of Education for Leadbetter Golf Academies, Stuart trains and mentors current and aspiring Leadbetter Instructors through Leadbetter’s comprehensive training programs, providing one-on-one support and mentorship throughout the certification process. Furthermore, Clayton is instrumental in providing supplemental learning opportunities and experiential workshops to the worldwide Leadbetter coaching community on a regular basis throughout the year. An invaluable member of the Leadbetter team, Stuart obtained his instructor title with Leadbetter nearly 22 years ago, teaching a wide range of players including elite amateurs and professional golfers at multiple Leadbetter locations, ultimately mastering the Leadbetter teaching philosophy. Stuart has obtained the highest level of Instructor certification through Leadbetter Golf Academies and is certified in Trackman, KVest, SAM PuttlLab, and SuperSpeed Golf.
Stuart currently works with LPGA professional, Open Championship winner, and Solheim Cup Captain Catriona Matthew, who will also provide her expertise and experience as a key member of the Scottish Performance Program performance team. Open Champion Paul Laurie has also been named a performance team member for the Scottish Performance Programme.
