How To Become a Better Sports Parent

A parent is the most influential person in a child’s life…

As parents, we want the best for our child, but sometimes that message can be lost along the way. Supporting children in sport is tough. How can I help my child without saying too much? How can I be involved without pushing them away? You want to help, but how?

It is our goal to help you create the best environment for your children to become the best they can be…in sport and life. This new course titled “The Champion Parent” will be your guide to building a deeper relationship with your child.

The Champion Parent course, instructed by Gavin Grenville-Wood, will help you understand the landscape of youth sports and how you can be an invaluable asset in your child’s development. You have the most influential voice in your child’s life. As coaches we can never change that, nor do we want to. We recognize that for the ultimate benefit of the kids, we must work together.

Throughout The Champion Parent course we will discuss strategies and initiatives that you can employ that foster effective development for your child, as well giving you ideas on what to say and when to say it.

Some of the topics covered:

  • The “Three Legged Stool” and building a relationship with the Coach
  • Developing a Growth Mindset
  • Understanding how failure fits into the Journey
  • How kids learn and the process they go through
  • Caddying

This is the first course of its kind for Junior Golf and it highlights how important your role is as a parent during your child’s golfing journey, irrespective of the intended destination.
