Mary Beth Kohberger
Leadbetter Kids Coach
Born and raised in New Jersey, Mary Beth Kohberger first started playing golf at age 12, and her love for the game grew exponentially from there. Dedicated to building a game for life, Mary Beth spent most of her free time at a local country club, which led her to play golf collegiately at Rollins College as the team captain.
While in Florida, Mary Beth married her husband, Robin Kohberger, who worked at Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort in Haines City, Florida. The teaching pro at Grenelefe was no other than David Leadbetter. Mary Beth started her teaching career as an assistant golf professional at another local club. To become a more proficient instructor, she was frequently found at Grenelefe watching David and his staff work with students.
In 1987 Mary Beth joined the PGA as the first female elected to the New Jersey section of the PGA. Distinguishing herself as a truly special junior coach, she joined the David Glenz Golf Academy and served as the Head Instructor of Junior Golf from 1999 to 2007. She also specialized in fun and creative programs for adults new to the game. Mary Beth went on her own for almost a decade before assuming the role of Director of Juniors and New Player Development for Leadbetter Golf Academy at Crystal Springs in 2017. Most recently, she took her coaching toolbox to the next level by becoming a Leadbetter Kids Certified Instructor and is currently leading the Leadbetter Kids programs at LGA Crystal Springs.
With Mary Beth’s more than 30 years of experience as a golf instructor, and now a Leadbetter Kids Instructor, she has learned that to play golf you must first learn to love the game; and from there everything will fall into place. Believing in a holistic approach to golf instruction, Mary Beth strives to go beyond just swing mechanics, helping students unlock their true potential. Along with the swing, she places a huge emphasis on course management, confidence, focus, and all of the other mental aspects of the game. As a W.I.T.S Certified Fitness Trainer, she can help her clients achieve the optimal swing for their body type, and also emphasizes the importance of golf fitness and nutrition.
Mary Beth will do all in her power to take new players and juniors from the beginning all the way “To The Tee!”
